TIPRA Motha Chief Pradyot Debbarma, after announcing yesterday about his plan to step down as the chairman of the party at the end of his two-year term said that he will continue to be an ordinary member of the party and continue to fight as an warrior for the Tiprasa people. The founder of the Tipra Motha party further said that the party will launch a massive agitation in the state if their demands for the Tiprasa people are not met.

Addressing a press conference in Agartala, the TIPRA Motha Chief said, “If our demands are not met we are going to go for massive agitation. Agitation which Tripura may not have seen before, but peace agitation. But agitation for our rights, not to beat up a poor innocent person or not to discriminate any other community. We will go for massive agitation for our demand and we have already prepared it. If we tell you now the police, the state government will take enough precaution to ensure that we do not get any permission.”

Not satisfied with the state government’s allocation of funds for the TTAADC, Debbarma said that the Government has to respond regarding the discrimination against the Tiprasa people living in the TTAADC as just 2.7 percent of the total Budget has been allotted for the district council.

Speaking on possible alliances ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Debbarma said, “Whoever’s stance is for the development of the Tiprasa community, for the rights of Tiprasa people, and stance to not break the community, we can have a talk with them, otherwise, we are neutral. If Lok Sabha has to happen, it has to be a one-on-one fight instead of a three-corner fight.”

Reacting to nepotism in politics, Debbarma said, “When the Tipra Motha fight started, not one member of my family was a member of TIPRA Motha because I didn’t form this party for my family or for myself but for my Tiprasa people.”

“I want to go and reach out to my workers, I want to build the party from the grassroots,” he added.
Keeping in view the Violence in Manipur, Debbarma said that what happened in Manipur will not be allowed in Tripura and shall not be allowed to break the unity in the name of language, script, or religion, as some of the BJP MLAs said.

Debbarma also said that all districts will have a party office of TIPRA Motha, for which funds will be provided by the him.
