Reported by Maksam Tayeng

Good news for the people of Sissen village under Rebo-Perging block in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh as their long-standing demand for road connectivity in the Sissen village and 7 other nearby villages along the left bank of the Siang river has finally been fulfilled.

Ojing Tasing, a local legislator and BJP MLA who had earlier promised to fulfil their demand upon winning the election in 2019, has now delivered on his promise to build a road in the villages of Sissen and Nugong Banggo, where there had previously been no motorable roads.

After the previous Congress government allegedly ignored the villagers’ demand for a motorable road for better communication, they decided to resort to the “No road, no vote” movement and boycotted the Parliamentary Elections in 2014 protesting the lack of proper road connectivity to their village.

Due to the lack of road connectivity the villagers suffered a lot. But it has now paid off and this is a dream come true for the villagers as a 40.35 kilometre road stretching from Pongging Village through Sissen to Komsing has been built at a cost of Rs 35 crore funded under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana after the BJP government took office in 2019.

After completion of the road, today MLA Ojing Tasing visited the village. During his visit to the village, the villagers have submitted him a one-point memorandum requesting the construction of an iron bridge over the Lebung River between Sissen and Pongging villages along the road from Komsing to Sissen village to connect the Nugong area.
