Assam Rifles arrest 3 suspected KCNA sympathizers with huge cache of ammunition in Mizoram

Troopers of Assam Rifles have seized 1,012 rounds of ammunition of different guns and arrested three persons in connection with the seizure in South Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district near the Bangladesh border.
Based on specific inputs of likely Kuki-Chin National Army (KCNA) cadres crossing the Indo-Bangladesh border with ammunition in the disguise of homeless Bawm immigrants supported by some locals involved in the smuggling of weapons, Assam Rifles personnel deployed near the Indo-Myanmar-Bangladesh tri-junction in Lawngtlai district on Sunday, June 4 launched an operation at Rangapanisura Nala area near Parva village.
During the operation, the team of Assam Rifles recovered 1,008 rounds of 5.56 mm, 2 rounds of 9mm and one each round of UBGL40/46 mm and 38 spl ammunition.
Arrested persons suspected to be KCNA sympathizers have been identified as–Joseph Lalnuntluang (48), Vanrothawnga (58) and Dabibadah (75), all from Parva-III village.
They were planning to hand over weapons to the KCNA cadres sheltering in nearby places.
Later, the seized ammunition and arrested persons have been handed over to the Police station, Lawngtlai.
At present, there are 772 refugees from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts due to clashes between the KCNA and the Bangladesh Army and the first batch of refugees entered Lawngtlai district in November last year.
