Close to 300 dead, around 900 injured in one of India’s worst train tragedies in recent times
Chief Ministers and Ministers of Northeastern states have expressed their utmost remorse and anguish at one of India’s worst train mishaps in recent times that happened last evening in Balasore district of Odisha killing close to 300 people and leaving at least 900 injured.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma taking to Twitter said, “Anguished by the train accident in Odisha and loss of precious lives. Words can’t describe the pain of those who lost their loved ones. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for speedy recovery of those injured.”
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha also expressed his condolences. Chief Minister Saha tweeted,”Distressed by the #TrainAccident in Balasore, Odisha. My condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Nagaland BJP president and cabinet minister Temjen Imna Along tweeted,”Deeply saddened to hear about the tragic train accident in Odisha. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”
Union minister of Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju said,”Saddened by the loss of precious lives in the tragic train accident in Odisha. Sending my deepest sympathies to the affected families and praying for their comfort during this unimaginably difficult time. Wishing a swift recovery to the injured.”
