Assam Forest Department has come up with an innovative way to help the elephants and make them safe. Reshared on Twitter by IFS officer Susanta Nanda, the video shows how a ramp has been made for an elephant herd to cross the railway tracks.
“Elephant herd crossing Mikirpara corridor from Deepor Beel towards Rani Reserve Forest,” read the original caption. It was shared by Nanda with the caption, “An effective way to reduce elephant deaths on Railway tracks. Ramp for the gentle giants to cross the tracks is a much simpler way to reduce the conflict,” reported India Today.

The post is swiftly going viral and people have appreciated the efforts made by the forest department. Many also suggested a green corridor to be made in places that are known to be regularly used as a path by elephants.
