The Indian Army said that it is committed to restoring peace and adopting a people-friendly approach, irrespective of the nefarious plot

The Spear Corps of the Indian Army has revealed “a nefarious plot” by insurgents likely to use innocent people “as human shields” to attack and cause destruction in trouble-torn Manipur.

On May 28, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps took to Twitter and shared intercepted transcripts of communication between two groups of armed miscreants planning to use civilians as human shields while targeting security personnel.

The tweet describes an insurgent strategy to exploit innocent civilians as human shields and prevent the security forces from performing their duties.

The intercepted conversation shows that “Party A instructs and informs Party B that they will have to complete a task by May 27 and destroy a village by using its inhabitants as human shields.”

The intercepted conversation also disclosed that the militants had a plentiful supply of weaponry and that they anticipated receiving more weapons soon.

Army said that they also received specific information that these militant groups had planned to use women and children as human shields and if there were casualties they will also launch a propaganda campaign against the Indian Army in Manipur.

The Army warned that the armed miscreants are under its watch, adding that the Indian Army is committed to restoring peace and adopting a people-friendly approach, irrespective of the nefarious plot.

It may be mentioned here that Manipur has been on the boil because of ethnic clashes related to multiple issues since May 3, 2023.
