Mizoram: 44-year old man gets 10 year jail term for raping 11-year old step-daughter in 2018

A Special Court (POCSO) in Aizawl on Friday sentenced a 44-year-old man of Darlawn village in Aizawl district, to 10 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 for repeatedly raping his step daughter since the victim was 11-year-old.
The special judge Vanlalenmawia had convicted the rapist on Wednesday under relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The incident dates back to 2018. The younger sister of the victim’s mother filed FIR at the Darlawn Police Station on November 2, 2018.
The convicted person was remanded to judicial custody and sent to the central jail near Aizawl on Wednesday evening and again produced before the court on Friday for the sentence hearing.
