Students need to be brought back to Tripura at earliest: Tripura Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma writes to CM Manik Saha

Debbarma questioned whether the state government is waiting for students from Tripura to die in violence-torn Manipur
Tripura’s Opposition Leader Animesh Debbarma on Saturday wrote to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to immediately bring back all students from Tripura studying in trouble-torn Manipur.
In the letter to the Chief Minister, Debbarma wrote, “The students are facing tremendous security and safety problems in Manipur due to a state of disturbance and communal violence there. They need to be brought back to Tripura at the earliest till the situation becomes normal.”
Debbarma questioned whether the state government is waiting for students from Tripura to die in violence-torn Manipur. In a hard hitting letter, the opposition leader wrote, “Is the state government waiting for some students of Tripura to die in the violence there, and only after that will they decide to bring back the students when other states have already started evacuating their students?” Debbarma said.
Criticizing the government, Debbarma said, “One thing the Chief Minister must understand is that in Agartala we cannot assess the heat of communal violence in Manipur.”
He urged the government to understand the pain, fear, and problems of safety and security experienced by those who are presently in Manipur.
“If there is no problem with the communal violence faced by the students, then why will they call their parents? Why would the parents approach us? “Maybe no one has approached the Chief Minister directly, but that does not mean that there is no problem in Manipur.”
Further questioning the state government and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for the irresponsible and callous attitude, Debbarma said, “Already three states have started evacuating their students; it is a wise step actually. Should we wait until something happens and then only start evacuating our students? “The wisest step will be before any accident happens, before any of our students dies, they should be evacuated.”
He accused the present government, including the CMO, of not having the courtesy to acknowledge or reply to letters sent by MLS or even the Opposition Leader.
In total, over 300 students from Tripura are studying in Manipur, with the majority of them studying at the RIMS, beside Central Agriculture University, NIT, and MRIT.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manik Saha, addressing a press briefing this evening, informed that the government has arranged a flight to evacuate 36 students from the Central Agriculture University in Imphal. The students will reach Guwahati at 1.40 am tonight.
CM Saha also informed that he had a talk with the aviation minister and they have arranged a direct Indigo flight to Guwahati, which will carry 171 students. They will reach Guwahati tonight at 12.15 a.m.
