Terror of Bangladeshi miscreants along the Indo-Bangladesh border of Assam has been giving sleepless nights to residents of the border villages. There have been occasional raids by
Bangladeshi miscreants who cross over into India and conduct raids in the border villages. Today in the wee hours, a gang of 13 miscreants from Bangladesh was embroiled in a clash with villagers from the Amala village which falls under the Patharkandi police station in Karimganj district of Assam.
The miscreants also fired upon the villagers while trying to flee the spot. The villagers chased the miscreants but they managed to flee to Bangladesh. Locals have seized a country-made pistol, equipment to cut barbed wires and packets of Bangladeshi cigarettes from the spot where the miscreants were spotted.
Sensation prevailed in the area after the showdown between the villagers and the miscreants from across the border.
Karimganj Additional SP (Crime) Amitraj Choudhury has said that Karimganj SP Partha Protim Das visited the spot after the matter came to light. A case has been registered in this regard.
