BJP swept the election to 99 village councils within Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) held on Tuesday by bagging 41 village councils, Mizoram state election commission announced on Thursday.

Mizo National Front (MNF), the ruling party in the state, could manage to win 25 seats while the Congress and the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) secured 8 and 2 village councils.

Independent candidates won 1 VC while there is no clear majority in 22 VCs.
