The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee is all set to launch a state-wide agitation on April 20 demanding justice for former APPSC under secretary Tumi Gangkak who was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in February 2023. Besides, the PAJSC will also be staging demonstration against the alleged delay by the Pema Khandu government in fulfilling the 13-Point Charter of Demands.

Speaking to Northeast Live, PAJSC member Rogam Doming said,”Our main demand is that justice must be provided to Tumi Gangak, since we all feel that this is nothing but a murder case. We feel that if the case is not resolved and justice is not delivered to Tumi Gangkak than this issue (Paper leak fiasco) shall remain incomplete. Because this case is related to the APPSC paper leak case, this is our main demand.”
Doming added that there has been no official communication from the government side as far as fulfilling the PAJSC’s 13-point charter of demands is concerned.

The PAJSC leader said, “The second point is that the 13-point charter of demands must be fulfilled in total. There was meeting on February 18 at the CMO, wherein the CM had promised that it will be fulfilled, but we waited for almost a month and there has been no sort of communication from the Chief Minister’s side. Because of this we are organizing this rally.”

“Our rally will begin at Aalo and it is there we will decide the future course of action. We appeal everyone to come forward and join our rally,” Doming added.

The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee on April 10 had submitted a representation to Chief Minister Pema Khandu with a detailed overview of the fulfilment of the 13 points charter of demands and immediate fulfilment of the unaddressed and related points.

Soon after handing over the memorandum by meeting officials at the Chief Minister’s Office, PAJSC vice-president Tadak Nalo had said that the representation was submitted by clearly highlighting as to where the government has failed to address some aspects which are part of the 13-point charter of demands.

It may be mentioned that the Arunachal Pradesh Police on April 12 had termed the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) official Tumi Gangkak as suicidal in nature.

Citing the post-mortem reports, Arunachal Pradesh police spokesperson Sanjay Bhatia had maintained that Gangkak died of asphyxiation due to hanging. The report further said that Gangkak was alive before hanging and had checked the internet for cures for depression.
