ChatGPT fails JEE, manages to solve only 11 questions in both papers

ChatGPT's performance in the exam was disappointing as it managed to solve only 11 questions out of the total number of questions.
There isn’t anything that the ChatGPT cannot do, from writing scripts to solving the toughest question papers, the OpenAI chatbot has proved that it is here to stay. However, not everything is a cakewalk for ChatGPT.
The AI-powered ChatGPT faced a setback when it failed to clear India’s prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. The JEE exam is known for its complexity and attracts thousands of students who hope to secure admission to the top engineering institutions in India.
ChatGPT’s performance in the exam was disappointing as it managed to solve only 11 questions out of the total number of questions in both the papers. According to Professor Ram Gopal Rao, former director of IIT Delhi, JEE is a rigorous quantitative exam that involves complex diagrams and figures, which poses a significant challenge for ChatGPT.
That said, we would not discredit ChatGPT for not being able to score big in the JEE exams. ChatGPT has passed numerous prestigious and challenging exams in the past. In the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), where candidates must answer 180 out of 200 questions, ChatGPT impressively attempted and answered all 200 questions. However, its performance resulted in a total score of 359 out of 800, which is equivalent to last year’s cut-off marks but translates to only 45 per cent. Not bad at all.
Notably, ChatGPT performed extremely well in the Biology section of the NEET exam, showing greater accuracy in answering those questions. Despite its failure in the JEE Advanced exam, ChatGPT’s performance in the NEET exam suggests that it has the potential to excel in other fields.
ChatGPT is an AI-powered language model that has been trained to perform a variety of tasks, such as language translation, summarization, and answering questions. The model has been receiving widespread attention due to its remarkable abilities, which have left many feeling uncertain about their jobs.
The setback faced by ChatGPT in the JEE Advanced exam highlights the limitations of even the most advanced AI models. While AI has the potential to revolutionize many fields, it still has a long way to go before it can match human intelligence in complex tasks.
