In a shocking incident, the Joint Director of Horticulture Department, Mizoram, C. Lalremsiama, lost his life after his car skidded off and fell into the Tlawng river.
The incident occurred on Saturday when Lalremsiama’s Mahindra Bolero truck skidded off near Buichali Bridge towards Kolasib District and fell into the Tlawng River.
As per reports, the rescue workers were unable to identify the vehicle as it had fallen 12 feet deep into the river. Strong currents too hampered the rescue operations.
However, a group of expert divers from a nearby town later checked the vehicle and found a badminton racket and shoes inside.
The car’s registration number was verified through VAHAN, which confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the state’s Horticulture Department and was driven by Lalremsiama, who was on his way to Kolasib to play a game of badminton.
Lalremsiama was a resident of Aizawl’s Luangmual and is survived by his wife and four children.
