Early in the morning, children led by Sunday school teachers took to the streets in every village and locality carrying palm leaves, singing hymns, and chanting Bible verses.
Chants of ‘Hosanna’ echoed through towns and villages as people commemorated the entry of Christ into Jerusalem on the last Sunday before his crucifixion.
Special prayer services were held in the churches of different Christian denominations across the state.

Though normal Sunday church services were held, the pastor and preachers concentrated on the subject of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
Palm Sunday is celebrated every year on the last Sunday before Good Friday.
The day is called Palm Sunday because the people of Jerusalem threw palm leaves on the floor as a greeting when Jesus Christ arrived in Jerusalem.
