Concerted efforts of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) to convince insurgents to join the mainstream have resulted in mass surrender of the 15 ENNG active cadres

In what can be termed as a big peace push, at least 15 rebels of the proscribed Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) returned to the mainstream and laid down their arms in presence of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Concerted efforts of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) to convince insurgents to join the mainstream have resulted in mass surrender of the 15 ENNG active cadres including their president Tosha Massang.

Major General Vikas Lakhera, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles(North) was also present in the event.
Chief Minister Khandu on the occasion assured all assistance to the former rebels and said, “Peace & harmony bring prosperity in society. We assure cadres all help to join the mainstream for their meaningful contribution to the State.”

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, “We have Underground Surrender Policy & fund allocation to encourage misguided youth to shun violence & become partners of growth.”

On the other hand, Chief Minister Khandu also urged other misguided youths to give up violence and contribute towards nation building.

Meanwhile, Union Law and Justice minister and Arunachal Lok Sabha West MP also welcomed the decision of the ENNG rebels to join the mainstream. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju taking to Twitter said,”North-East India is witnessing fast development due to peace. People who had taken up Arms are returning back to mainstream due to the Govt’s people friendly actions.
