Assam Govt creates World Record for 42 lakh essays on Lachit Borphukan, CM to recieve certificate

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is to receive the Certificate of Record today at Janata Bhawan from the representatives of Guinness World Records Limited, UK
A historic moment is set as Assam created a world record by receiving submissions of essays from around 42 lakh participants at the essay writing event held to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan.
Around 42 lakh participants wrote on Lachit Barphukan and submitted the essays online to pay tribute to the legend.
“People sent their essays in various languages, some in Hindi, some in Tamil, and in Kannada language as well. Assam is the first state to write 42 lakh essays on one Ahom commander Lachit Barphukan, which led to set a record itself, ” informed CM Sarma.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is to receive the Certificate of Record today at Janata Bhawan from the representatives of Guinness World Records Limited, UK.
Lachit Barphukan was an Ahom commander, known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat that thwarted an invasion by Mughal forces under the command of Ramsingh I.
King Chakradhwaj Singha selected Lachit to command the expedition against the Mughals and appointed him as the Barphukan in 1667.
