Holi turns tragic; two barbaric murders reported in Assam

One incident youth being killed by another youth was reported from Charaideo district and the other similar incident was reported from Udalguri district

Amid the Holi celebrations, two barbaric murder cases have been reported from two different districts of Assam — Charaideo and Udalguri.

Though the incidents took place in districts which are kilometers away from each other, the style of killing by using machetes was the same.

The first incident took place at Lefera village under Barhat police station in Charaideo district. A youth named Putul Gogoi was attacked and killed by another youth named Ram Urang with a machete.

The incident happened when the deceased Putul Gogoi was watching a cricket match.

However, Ram Urang escaped from the spot after the murder.

Another similar case was reported from Bhuyankhat village in Assam’s Udalguri district.

A youth named Amit Tanti was attacked and killed with a machete by another youth named Vikram Gwala.

Vikram is in police custody.
