Their seems to be no respite for the man-elephant conflict in the state of Assam. In two separate incidents, two persons died and three others were injured in elephant attack at the Nanaipara tea estate and Gorujhawar of Udalguri district.

A person identified as Pittus Tippa was trampled to death by a herd of marauding jumbo when he was returning home via the tea estate where the elephants broke into.

On the other hand, a duo of mother and son were grievously injured when they were attacked by angry jumbos at Gorujhawar. While the son Ashraful later succumbed to his injuries, his mother Meherjaan is still battling for her life at the hospital.

Local people were incensed as the forest department did not come to the spot of incident even after being informed about the situation.
