This will be a second term for the BJP government in Tripura that was once a Left bastion.
Manik Saha is all set to take oath for a second term as the Tripura Chief Minister. The swearing in ceremony is likely to take place on March 8.
Briefing newspersons today after submitting his resignation to Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya said, “Most probably, tentatively on 8 (March 8) the oath taking ceremony will be held. It may change”.
Saha would continue as the care-taker CM till the new government is sworn in.
This will be a second term for the BJP government in Tripura that was once a Left bastion.
In the just concluded elections, BJP won 32 seats, a clear majority to form the government on its own in the 60-member house. BJP’s ally IPFT has won one seat taking the total tally for BJP+ to 33, way above the majority mark of 31 needed to form a government in a 60-member Assembly. In 2018, BJP had won 36 seats and IPFT 8.
Saha tendered his resignation today. He told the mediapersons that he would go to the Governor one more time to stake claim to form the government.
“We have our majority so that is the 2nd part, for the 2nd part I will again come, but for today I come to tender My resignation,” Saha said.
