Temjen Imna Along, 41, is the Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs in the outgoing Rio Cabinet. The state BJP president since January 15, 2020, is very popular across India for his witty and humourous social media posts and unique quality of being able to crack a joke at himself.
He won the 2018 Assembly election from the Alongtaki seat against Benjongliba Aier of the Naga People’s Front with a margin of a little over 900 votes.
In the upcoming Assembly polls, he is up against J Lanu Longchar of the JD(U) from Alongtaki. Before joining politics, Along completed his pre-university in commerce from City College of Arts and Commerce Dimapur in 1999.
