Supporters of NDPP candidate Tongpang Ozukum allegedly attacked

As Nagaland is bracing for elections, a sensational incident of pre-poll violence took place this afternoon around 1 PM. According to inputs, 5-6 rounds of shots were fired by unknown miscreants targetting the supporters of NDPP candidate Tongpang Ozukum.

The supporters of Ozukum were enroute to Mokokchung from Mongsenyimti village when the incident took place. Further details into the incident is underway. Meanwhile, the supporters of Tongpang Ozukum haev filed an FIR with the Nagaland Police and urged for a swift action into the matter.

It may be mentioned, Tongpang Ozüküm was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2018 from the Angetyongpang constituency as an Independent candidate. He is minister of Housing and Mechanical in Fourth Neiphiu Rio ministry from 2018 and was the lone Independent MLA to extend support to the Neiphiu Rio led UDA government.
Ozukum had joined the NDPP this year.
