Union Minister of State for Communication Devusinh Chauhan said that e-connectivity is essential for proper implementation of central schemes

Union Minister of State for Communication Devusinh Chauhan on Saturday said that the Centre would ensure that Mizoram has access to improved e-connectivity given the fact that the state’s hilly terrain makes the development of good quality roads very difficult.

“Mizoram’s hilly terrain makes road construction challenging, so good e-connectivity is vital. In Mizoram, e-connections have not reached many villages, making it difficult for the right individuals and communities to benefit from the central schemes,” MoS Chauhan said at a meeting at the Secretariat today.

Stating that Mizoram is yet to reap the benefits of several central schemes, the MoS said that it is imperative that e-connectivity be upgraded to help carry out the various Central initiatives efficiently in the state. Many central schemes are being implemented throughout the state, but e-connectivity is necessary to accomplish them as development is easier to accomplish in places where communication and e-connection are good.

The Minister said that most villages do not have banks or insurance because of lack of internet access. Assuring the officials that he would take initiatives for the state in the central government, he asked ICT officials to remember the challenges while executing various scheme while making proposals.

Mizoram ICT Minister Robert Romawia Royte said the state government is taking massive efforts for the success of central schemes in the state. He highlighted the fact that to improve e-connectivity in the state, service providers like BSNL, Airtel, Jio needs to work alongwith government. He further said that several projects under SASCI (Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment ) are time bound so the officials have to work harder to complete the projects, he added.
