The student body had accused the MSSSB Chairman of “selection of non-Mizos” for government jobs and demanded his removal from the post

On Wednesday, hundreds of students gathered for a sit-in demonstration organised by the Mizoram student apex body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), demands removal of the Mizoram Subordinate Services Selection Board Chairman, Ramhmangaiha Ralte.

The student body had accused the MSSSB Chairman of the “selection of non-Mizos” for government jobs and demanded his removal from the post.

MZP president Lalnunmawia Pautu said three non-Mizos have recently been recruited for different posts through the MSSSB.

Notably, MSSSB conducts exams for the recruitment of Group B non-gazetted posts under the Mizoram government.

However, the Mizoram Subordinate Services Selection Board Chairman, Ramhmangaiha Ralte, said that he will not resign unless the state government asks him to do so.

Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia held a meeting with the MZP leaders on Wednesday evening, asking the latter to call off the stir.

The student leaders, however, said that they could not agree to the conditions put forward by the state government and decided to continue the protest.

The student body decided to hold a protest rally in Aizawl on February 3.
