Arunachal: Adi Students’ Union submits a 6-point memo to CM Pema Khandu over APPSC fiasco and other issues

Their demands include the APPSC paper leak scam, the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor & the functionalisation of Arunachal University at Pasighat and others

The Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU) along with the entire Adi community today submitted a six-point memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighting various demands and sought the Chief Minidter’s immediate response.

The demands include:

1. The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission’s (APPSC) paper leak scam:

AdiSU has strongly appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for a complete assessment of all movable and immovable properties of all the members, officials and staffs of the APPSC paper leak scam in order to unearth and expose all the people involved in the scam.

2. Appointment of Vice-Chancellor & functionalisation of Arunachal University at Pasighat:

The union has resented the non-posting of the Vice-Chancellor in Arunachal University, Pasighat despite several appeals and they have appealed for proper functionalisation of it at the earliest.

3. Functionalisation of the Industrial Training centre at Pangin (in Siang district):

The union has also demanded early functionalisation of ITI Pangin which has been laying non-functional despite the fact that the institute’s infrastructure development has already been completed.

4. Proper demarcation of school boundaries in every Adi inhabited districts:

Most of the school grounds are now being encroached on by illegal encroachers, so the AdiSU team has demanded the demarcation of all school boundaries by issuing the necessary documentation and paying a one-time fee.

5. Fast tracking of investigation of late Tamik Taki murder case:

The AdiSU has urged the government to speed up its inquiry into the murder case of tax and excise inspector in Itanagar, Tamik Taki, who was killed in between Yingkiong and Tuting on May 6, 2022. The union has expressed its displeasure over the delay in the probe.

6. Rationalisation of posting of school teachers in every Adi inhabited districts:

After touring all the schools of Adi inhabited districts under theme- ‘Kaju School Gilaju’ (School chale hum), the AdiSU found shortages of teachers in many schools in the rural locations, whereas teachers were found in surplus in the schools located in the towns and its nearby areas.

Therefore, AdiSU appealed to the Education Minister for rationalisation of teachers in all Adi-inhabited schools without any fear and favour of politics in order to provide quality education.

AdiSU urged the authorities to act immediately on their demands and warned of taking further democratic actions in all Adi-inhabited districts if their demands were not addressed favourably within 15 days.

They submitted the memorandum to CM Khandu through Deputy Commissioner, East Siang, Pasighat.

They also held a peaceful rally from Jawaharlal Nehru College Pasighat playground to the Deputy Commissioner’s office covering a distance of 3 KM.
