Owner of Yeti Airlines Ang Tshiring Sherpa also died in air crash in 2019

The owner of Nepal’s Yeti Airlines, whose aircraft met with an accident on Sunday killing as many as 72 people, also died in an air crash three years ago. Aviation and hospitality entrepreneur Ang Tshiring Sherpa died in a helicopter crash in February, 2019.
The then aviation minister of Nepal, Ravindra Adhikari, along with his fellow ministers, went to conduct a feasibility study of a new airport in Terhthum district. Ang Tshiring Sherpa was accompanying the ministers in the helicopter.
The helicopter took off at around 6 am with six people. While returning, the helicopter crashed into the top of a mountain, killing all the passengers and the pilot. Notably, there were six people in a five-seater helicopter.
The helicopter crashed in Pathibhara district in Taplejung at around 1.30 pm. The chopper belonged to Air Dynasty Heli Service, one of the oldest helicopter rescue companies in Nepal.
The death of Ang Tshiring Sherpa, besides the civil aviation minister, his PSO, the deputy director general of the Civil Aviation Authority, a director of the ministry and a deputy secretary, shook the entire nation.
Apart from Yeti Airlines, Ang Tshiring Sherpa also owned Tara Airlines and Nepal’s only international aircraft firm, Himalayan Airlines.
NEPAL PLANE CRASH
The plane carrying 72 people, including five Indians, crashed into a river gorge while landing at the newly-opened airport in the resort city of Pokhara, killing everyone onboard. The accident is said to be the Himalayan nation’s deadliest aviation accident in over three decades.
The Yeti Airlines twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft was carrying 72 people – four crew members and 68 passengers, when it crashed near the airport of the tourist city of Pokhara. So far, 68 dead bodies have been recovered from the accident site and a search is going on for the remaining four bodies.
Four of the five Indians who died in the air crash reportedly hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district and were planning to participate in paragliding in the popular tourist hub of Pokhara.
The five Indians have been identified as Abhisekh Kushwaha, 25, Bishal Sharma, 22, Anil Kumar Rajbhar, 27, Sonu Jaiswal, 35, and Sanjaya Jaiswal.
