Tripura govt signs MoU with NTPC for renewable energy in state

Committed for a Cleaner and Greener Environment, the Tripura government today inked a MoU for renewable energy in the state with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). Chief Minister Manik Saha, deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma besides other top officials of the Tripura government and the NTPC were present on the occasion.
The Tripura Chief Minister took to Twitter and confirmed the development.
It may be mentioned that NTPC is taking various steps to make its energy portfolio greener by adding significant capacities of Renewable Energy (RE) sources. By 2032, the company plans to have 60GW capacity through RE sources constituting nearly 45% of its overall power generation capacity.
NTPC has a commissioned capacity of 2,962 MW of RE projects under own capacity addition.
Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) is the State Nodal Agency for implementing New & Renewable Energy Projects in the state.
The schemes currently undertaken by the TREDA includes:
Remote Village Electrification Programme [RVE]
Jawarlal Nehru National Solar Mission [JNNSM]
Development of Solar Cities Programme
National Bio Gas & Manure Management Programme [NBMMP]
Unnat Chulha Abhiyan [UCA] Programme
Solar Photo voltaic Water Pumping System
Solar Thermal application
Information & Public Awareness Programme
Special Area Demonstration Project Programme [SADP]
