Jio launches 5G services in Assam, services to reach every Assam town by Dec 2023

Reliance Jio, the biggest private telcom company, today announced the launch of its high-speed 5G network services across Assam. The 5G service will be made available to every town by December 2023, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said while inaugurating the services at an event in Guwahati.

Jio also made available its 5G-powered WiFi services in the region today. 

“Jio is additionally investing over Rs 2,500 crores to install True 5G network in Assam and this indicates their great commitment towards our state’s development, in addition to their existing investment of Rs 9,500 crores,” said Chief Minister Sarma.

According to the company’s statement, the healthcare industry was picked to showcase Jio True 5G’s advantages. “Revolutionary solutions such as Jio Community Clinic medical kit, AR-VR-based healthcare with JioGlass, smart healthcare solutions like Tele Radiology, Connected Ambulance” were displayed,” it stated.

Chief Minister Sarma said that Jio’s healthcare solutions, such as “clinic in a bag,” can benefit Asha workers and grassroots-level healthcare providers. 

“It has a straightforward design and utilises 5G to connect wirelessly to a variety of medical devices. 

Even in Assam’s most remote areas, medical professionals can diagnose and cure patients with the assistance of specialised doctors “he added.

Apart from the rollout in Guwahati Jio have launched its 5G service in seven other cities in four other states — Chertala in Kerala, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangalore and Belgaum in Karnataka, Warangal and Karimnagar in Telangana, and Solapur in Maharashtra.

It may be mentioned that last year on November, telecom operator Bharti Airtel had rolled out the latest 5G services in Guwahati.

Rajnish Verma, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Assam and North East said that they are in the process of lighting up the entire city which will allow customers to enjoy superfast access to High-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more.
