TMC to go solo, party preparing to go to people for seeking mandate: Mukul Sangma

The former Meghalaya Chief Minister said that the basic idea of Mamata Banerjee is to ensure that she gets connected to the foot soldiers from across the state.
The morale of the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and workers are high as party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee set her foot in the poll bound state today. Top TMC leader of the state and former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma too is all buckled up for the polls and feels confident in view of ‘Didi’s’ visit.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Mukul Sangma termed Mamata Banerjee’s tour as an opportune moment for the TMC Chairperson to address the foot soldiers of the party. Sangma believes that, Mamata Banerjee’s visit will set the tempo and the momentum as the TMC is preparing itself to go to the people to seek their mandate and serve them.

In a significant statement, Mukul Sangma responding to a query on whether the TMC will go solo in the 2023 polls, said that his party will contest the polls on it’s own. Sangma said, “The idea is to remind people that they must understand the fallout of giving fractured mandate and the ramifications thereof.”
When asked about the finalization of the candidate list, Mukul Sangma said that the candidates for some constituencies is more or less ready. He added, “official sharing in this matter will be made in a timely manner as deemed appropriate.”
Mamata Banerjee is in Shillong today and tomorrow. She has already held a meeting with the top Meghalaya TMC leaders preparing the final roadmap and giving final touches to the ellction strategy of the party for the upcoming elections.
Tomorrow she will hold a Party Workers’ Convention at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong with key TMC leaders of the state, representatives of all district and block committees, members of women, youth and student frontals, and over hundreds of party workers and members. In the evening, she would be attending pre-Christmas celebrations with children from different orphanages, tribal headmen from Khasi and Jaintia Hills, eminent members from the civil society and prominent influencers of Meghalaya based out of Shillong, at the Windermere Resort, Umpling, Shillong.
