In 2018 Mukul Sangma had successfully contested from Songsak and Ampati as a Congress candidate
Meghalaya Trinamool Congress President Mukul Sangma said that he might be contesting from more than one seat but a decision would be taken depending on the party’s “strategy and political appropriateness”.
The former Meghalaya CM and former Congress leader on Friday said that there is a demand from a number of constituencies for him to contest from other seats besides Songsak but a decision will be arrived upon in consistence with what will be strategically and politically appropriate for the party.
He said, “cards are on deck” with regards to him contesting from two constituencies.
Sangma had in 2018 contested successfully from Songsak and Ampati as a Congress candidate. The party is working on the whole aspect of deciding the candidates in their respective constituencies and the party would proceed phase wise.
On TMC fielding candidates in all sixty seats, he said, “We are looking at the possibility but at the same time the possibility and tactically needed or not so we may and we may not as we are not laying the cards on the table at the moment”.
