If Ajmal bears the cost then produce 10 kids: Assam CM’s jibe at Ajmal

If Ajmal bears the cost, then I would say produce 10-12 children, says CM Sarma

Reacting sharply to AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal’s contentious remarks on Hindu marriage age and asking Hindus to marry early and produce more children like the Muslims, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he would ask every mother to produce 10–12 kids if Ajmal promised to take care of the children and the mothers.

“Babruddin Ajmal has said that one should produce as many children as possible. I say, keep producing children but then Ajmal has to take on the responsibility of bringing up the children. If Ajmal bears the cost, then I would say produce 10-12 children. If he cannot bear the cost, then he has no right to tell our mothers how many children to produce or not produce,” the Chief Minister said, addressing a gathering in Bongaigaon.

Concerned about the well-being of children in light of Ajmal’s call to produce more kids, the Assam CM said, “More children will be produced. Mother and children will be weak, lean, mean, and thin. The children will not be able to go to school, get educated (because the families will not be able to afford to take care of so many children), that cannot be the image of Assam”.

“I would like to appeal to the women of the Muslim community to produce only that many number of children whom you can make doctors and engineers, not someone who becomes an Imam. That will only be harmful for our society,” the CM said.

“I’ve been listening to Ajmal’s bizarre comment for the past three days. Ajmal says Hindus must produce more children. I’d like to inform him that it is because Hindus produce lesser children that there are more doctors and engineers in Hindu households. On the contrary, when we see Muslim women in rural areas, it pains our hearts to see their health,” the CM said reacting to Ajmal’s remarks that had stirred a huge controversy, even his party men criticising him for the remarks.

“I do not want your votes. I want your children to do well in life so that the Muslim community can be free from people like Ajmal and progress with education and culture. I would like to appeal to women from the Muslim community to not produce more than 2 children so that you can make doctors, teachers, engineers, and other professionals and not just clerics,” the CM said.
