The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Manipur is all locked up amidst protests by students for demands not being met.

The students of the university have been demanding for student’s hostels, staff quarters and other basic amenities. A 99 per cent seat reservation for tribal students is also being asked for.

Infuriated at being asked to join the underground by a top official of the university, the students locked up the various departments as well as the administrative block.

This is not the first time that the University is under such a rage. A similar protest was reported in July last year.

Students Union President Holkhomang Chongloi is of the opinion that the protest is a means to draw the attention of the higher authority, and that the campaign shall continue till the demands are fulfilled.
