At least six people died and several homes were destroyed in the western district of Doti, close to populous towns after an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck Nepal early Wednesday.

Tremors were felt at 1.58 am.
According to reports, the powerful tremors damaged dozens of houses.
This is the second earthquake in the Himalayan Country in 24 hours with the last one with a magnitude of 4.5.
The National Center for Seismology put the epicentre of the earthquake at 90 km southeast of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, bordering Nepal.
A ground rescue team has been dispatched to the scene, and two helicopters are ready in the nearby towns of Surkhet and Nepalgunj, according to Nepali army spokesman Narayan Silwal.

Media reports after the quake showed that the tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas of Ghaziabad and Gurugram and even in Lucknow, jolting people out of their sleep.
Worth mentioning here, the Himalayan region in Uttarakhand and adjoining Nepal have been experiencing earthquakes of lower magnitude for the past several days,
