Tripura Political Violence: Congress workers block Agartala-Sabroom highway

Tripura Violence: Congress also alleged that the BJP goons also fired shots besides attacking with rods and sticks.
Congress party workers blocked the Agartala-Sabroom national highway today in protest against the alleged attack on their supporters by ruling BJP supporters.
The incident occurred in the Raoutkhala area under the Bishalghar subdivision in the Sepahijala district of Tripura.
At least one Congress supporter identified as Sikander Ali had sustained critical head injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The incident occurred when Congress supporters were putting up party flags and preparing for the opening of a new office in that area when they were allegedly attacked by the ruling party supporters.
Congress also alleged that the BJP goons also fired shots besides attacking with rods and sticks. Meanwhile, some BJP flags were also destroyed and found lying on the road.
A Congress party office in the area was set on fire. While firefighters were rushing toward the spot their vehicle was attacked by unidentified assailants and a few of the firefighters were injured and hospitalized.
Senior police personnel including the district SP BJ Reddy with a huge contingent of police force rushed to the spot and at present, the situation is stated to be under control.
