HIPF has been demanding to exclude the word Itanagar from Donyi Polo Airport & rename it as Donyi Polo Airport, Hollongi.
The Hollongi Indigenous Peoples Forum has lashed out at the Pema Khandu government for allegedly ignoring their demands.
It needs to be mentioned that the Hollongi Indigenous Peoples Forum has been demanding to carve out the word Itanagar from Donyi Polo Airport and rename it as Donyi Polo Airport, Hollongi.
The HIPF said that the government is unable to understand the sentiments of the indigenous people of Hollongi. The HIPF leadership highlighted the historical importance and maintained that the indigenous people have always protected Hollongi despite all odds, while referring to the fact that insurgency was at peak once.
The Hollongi Indigenous Peoples Forum said that the indigenous people never lost their courage even if rebel groups from Assam were operating from Hollongi. Otherwise, Hollongi by now would have been a part of Assam, had the indigenous people not protected it, the HIPF added.
