Paul Pelosi, husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suffered a skull fracture after he was allegedly attacked with a hammer by a male assailant on Friday morning at his San Francisco home.

According to the reports, the attacker who attacked him was looking for the House speaker.

In their San Francisco home, the intruder confronted the speaker’s husband, shouting, “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?

As per reports, two sources familiar with the situation said that the man who assaulted Paul Pelosi tried to tie him up “until Nancy got home.”

The attacker said he was “waiting for Nancy” when the police arrived.

Paul Pelosi was rushed to a hospital and underwent “successful surgery to treat a skull fracture and major injuries to his right arm and hands, said Nancy Pelosi’s spokesman, Drew Hammill in a statement on Friday evening.

Doctors expect that he will fully recover, according to the statement.

The attack’s motivation is still being investigated, according to San Francisco Police Chief William Scott, but officials want to book the suspect with felony charges.

The attack rocked Washington and sparked condolences and condemnation from congressional leaders on all sides of the political spectrum.

Meanwhile,

David DePape, 42, has been identified by authorities as the attack’s suspect. 

In connection with the incident, authorities expect “bringing forward multiple felony charges” next week, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins tweeted on Friday night.

“We are coordinating closely with federal and local law enforcement partners on this investigation. We will bring forward multiple felony charges on Monday and expect DePape to be arraigned on Tuesday. DePape will be held accountable for his heinous crimes,” she wrote.
