Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) President, Kevipodi Sophie stated that it decided to take off the repair work of NH-2 considering the very deplorable condition of the road, which he said is endangering human life and the commuters are facing untold miseries and hardships.

Kevipodi Sophie also informed that a total of 5 villages under Southern Angami Area participated and the repair works was carried out by free will contributions from different villages, individuals and well wishers.

It needs to be mentioned that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is the implementing agency for the project of two laning the NH-2, while the Fortune Group was involved int he project as the construction agency.

The NH-2 is a link road to 13 Angami Naga villages, Kisama heritage village where the famous Hornbill Festival is held. Besides, the route also leads to Dzükou valley, which is an international tourist trekking destination.

For the smooth progress of road repair, all Heavy vehicles including trucks and tankers (both Local and non-local) were prohibited to ply from 6AM to 4PM. Apart from this, all parking of vehicles from Phesama check gate to Khuzama village was also restricted.
