Arunachal: Army chopper crashes

Advanced Light Helicopter of Army crashes at Singging village. Search and rescue operations begin. 2 pilots onboard chopper.

An Advanced Light Helicopter of the Army has crashed at Sigging Village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang District.

The crash took place at around 10:40 am this morning and the site is 25 kms away from Tuting Headquarter.

Search and rescue operations is underway. As per inputs, the location has to be reached on foot. Search teams comprising Police, locals and district administration officials has set out on foot in search of the crash site.

As per inputs, the Army has deployed 2 Advanced Light Helicopters, while the Indian Air Force is using one Mi-17 helicopter for the search operation

However, further details are still awaited. Meanwhile, Northeast Live has accessed exclusive footages from the crash site.

Earlier, on October 5 an army aviation Cheetah helicopter flying in the forward area near Tawang had crashed during a routine sortie.

Both pilots were evacuated to nearest Military Hospital, but unfortunately one of the pilots, Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured, succumbed to the injuries during treatment.
