Assam Police on alert against Jihadis: GP Singh

The Assam Police is on full alert in view of the Jihadi elements trying to expand its base in the state.
Assam Special DGP GP Singh said that the police is working in close co-ordination with state as well as central intelligence agencies and keeping a close watch on the vulnerable areas.
GP Singh maintained that whenever information is received, the police have always swung into action. In this regard, the Assam Special DGP mentioned about the recent neutralizing of a Jihadi terror module in Tamulpur, Baksa and Nalbari districts.
GP Singh said that the arrested individuals were trying to create a nucleus and may have resorted to subversive activities with the help of Ansarullah Bangla Team which is an affiliated of the Al Qaeda (Indian sub-continent).

During interrogation, it was found that the module was working on creation of sleeper cells in different parts of the state.
Besides, GP Singh also said that the Assam Police is on full alert since the PFI has been banned. Informing newspersons, the Assam Special DGP (Law & Order), said that 3 PFI leaders were arrested from Nagarbera in Kamrup district last night.
Meanwhile, GP Singh affirmed that the fight against Jihadis and other radical groups like PFI will continue and timely actions will surely be taken.
