Are the youths of Meghalaya deprived of jobs in the private sector? The HNYM said less than 5% youths of the state are employed in pvt sector

Has the MDA government in Meghalaya been able to resolve the unemployment issue? Claims apart, hundreds of youths led by the Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM ) took to the streets in Shillong demanding that the government pass a law for ensuring maximum employment of local youths in the private sector in the state.

Speaking to newsmen, Joint Secretary, HNYM, Wyraiwan Sohtun said that less than 5% local youths are employed in different private sectors of the state which includes cement companies, private sector banks as well as educational institutes besides others.

The HNYM leader alleged that when his organization approached authorities of a few of these sectors, the only reply they received was that the “youths of the state were lazy and inexperienced”.

The HYNM leader added, if the youths are inexperienced in the aforesaid sectors than the priority must be to impart training and give them employment.

Therefore, the HNYM has demanded that the state government must pass a law for ensuring maximum employment of local youths in the private sectors.

As per report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy or CMIE, Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya had the lowest unemployment rates in the entire nation for the month of August.
