Chief Minister N Biren Singh today stressed the government’s focus on securing the border with Myanmar.
Biren Singh reiterated this during the 131st Raising Day celebrations of Manipur police at the 1st Manipur Rifles parade ground in Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced that the government will introduce a cavalry team of the Manipur police in all districts, considering the significance of the Manipuri pony in Manipur’s history and society.

He said that in the first phase, the government is planning to set up the team with 20 police personnel.
The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of the Manipur police in cracking down on illegal activities and highlighted the significant improvement in police-public relations over the years.
The Chief Minister noted that the government has been taking all possible steps to boost the morale of the police. A total of 34 police stations are being set up along the Manipur-Myanmar border.
Meanwhile, GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles have been introduced to heighten security along highways and border areas.
