Will become CM if given a chance: Vincent Pala

Speculations are rife as to who will be the next Chief Minister, if Congress bounces back to power despite battling all odds.
The Meghalaya Congress is gearing up for the 2023 assembly elections. Already battered by the exit of 12 MLAs to join the TMC and subsequently 5 other MLAs aligning with the MDA, the Congress however is in no mood to relent.
But who will be the next Chief Minister if the Congress bounces back to power?
Shillong Lok Sabha MP and Meghalaya Congress President Vincent Pala informed that he will be happy to become the Chief Minister if given a chance by the people and the AICC. However, Pala maintained that he does not consider himself to be a chief ministerial candidate, because there is no such system in the Congress to select a Chief Ministerial candidate in advance. Vincent Pala added that there is no denying the fact that every politician have their own aspirations.
Meanwhile, top sources have confirmed Northeast Live that Pala will be contesting the 2023 assembly elections. When asked about this, Pala said that he is doing well in this regard but has been facing challenges since he also has to discharge his duties and responsibilities.
However, the Congress leader is confident that that there should not be a problem for him since he has represented Shillong 3-times as an MP.
When asked about the expulsion of 5 Congress MLAs who have aligned with MDA coalition, Pala informed that every decision pertaining to this will be taken by the AICC.
Backing the party discipline, the Meghalaya Congress chief said that it would be unfair on the part of his party to expel the 5 MLAs since they are yet to reply to the explanation letter issued by the high command.
Pala further said to say that the 5 MLAs are not in the Congress is not true, since they won by contesting from the Grand Old Party and it’s resources.
