Bohham is the fourth person arrested in the case which had created strong reactions in the entire region of the state.
In yet another major breakthrough, Arunachal’s Longding police have arrested a person on charges of harboring the group of NSCN (K-YA) which killed a trader Atar Singh Sharma on Oct. 9 in the heart of Longding town.
Deputy Superintendent of Police B Tangjang who is heading the investigation into the sensational murder case said that Mankhap Bohham who is a resident of the Yonglo colony of the town had given shelter to Self-Styled Major Wanglam Wangsu and his team on Oct 8 and provided them with logistical support.
It is worth mentioning that Bohham is the fourth person arrested in the case which had created strong reactions in the entire region of the state.
Earlier, a police constable Langlem Wangpan was arrested along with two others by the security forces in connection with the brutal murder.
Earlier on October 9, suspected NSCN (K-YA) militants shot dead a trader in the state’s Longding district. The trader was identified as 70-years-old Atar Singh, who was shot twice at his grocery shop by a group of four militants.
The bullets hit Singh’s chest and critically injured him. While he was immediately rushed to the local community health center in Longding he succumbed to his injuries there.
2 empty cartridges were recovered from the site of the incident.
Hailing from Haryana, Singh’s family had shifted to Longding around 40 years ago.
It may be mentioned that the NSCN-K-YA and other groups have been carrying out rampant extortion activities in Arunachal’s Tirap, CHangland, and Longding districts.
Locals have staged multiple protests in recent months demanding an end to extortion and insurgency in the area.
