Sikkim landslides: Army swings into action

Himalayan state Sikkim is experiencing heavy rainfalll since the past several days. Stranded tourists rescued by Army.
Army troopers swung into action to rescue tourists under harsh weather conditions who were stranded owing to landslides in Sikkim.
Over 500 tourists along with at least 150 vehicles were stuck in heavy rainfall and inclement weather conditions with freezing temperature, due to a massive landslide 2-km North of Chungthang.
Soon the tourists started feeling uneasiness due to harsh weather conditions.
The Army provided immediate relief to stranded tourists in terms of water, food and medical care to elderly persons and infants.

Some of the tourists who were in critical condition were brought back to nearest Medical facility for further assistance .
Army also assisted the Sikkim Police in regulating the heavy traffic of more than 150 vehicles and by 6 PM all tourists were brought back to the safety of their respective hotels in Lachung without further delay.
As per a statement issued by the army, the bravehearts deployed at North Sikkim are always at forefront to assist the local administration in any emergency relief work.
