The flood situation has worsened in Assam with over 69,000 people affected in 5 districts of the state. This is the 3rd wave of flood in Assam this year.
As many as 22 relief centers have been set up in the affected districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, and Nagaon.
Farmers in Gohpur are also bearing the brunt of floods, that too when the situation was just about coming to normal after the floods that wreaked havoc in the month of June.
Meanwhile, as many as 110 villages are reeling under flood waters in 11 revenue circles.
Earlier yesterday, floods took serious form at Shivaguri in Jonai. Incessant rains flooded the Siyang, Datung, and Dibang rivers affecting people in the area with seasonal harvests being damaged.
Likewise, the Gogamukh circle in the Dhemaji district is also facing the fury of floods.
The Jiyadhal and Kumatiya rivers are in spate with several areas being inundated. Locals schools have also been ordered to remain closed because of the floods. Locals are also facing a shortage of drinking water amid the raging floods.
Meanwhile, the River Brahmaputra is reportedly flowing above the danger level at Nimatighat in Majuli.
Ferry services as such have been affected severely. Barring the single-engine ferries, all other ferry services have been temporarily closed.
