Naga Talks moving in right direction; NNPG delegation lands in Delhi

The talks between the NSCN-IM delegation led by VS Atem and Government of India interlocutor AK Mishra are heading in the right direction.

This has been revealed by Naga Hoho general secretary Elu Ndang during an exclusive conversation with Northeast Live Kohima correspondent Sarah Konyak.

Ndang, who was a part of the Naga Hoho delegation that met the NSCN-IM leaders and interlocutor, AK Mishra, in New Delhi on Saturday said that both the parties were serious about resolving the issue at the earliest and that the level of trust between the negotiators had gone up.

Significantly, Ndang added that with the resumption of the talks process both parties were confident that this time round concrete steps will be taken by the GoI and NSCN-IM to clinch a solution.

Significantly, speaking on the contentious separate flag and constitution issue, the Naga Hoho general secretary said the negotiating parties were yet to discuss in detail the two issues however the process for the same has started.

The NNPG delegation led by Kitovi Zhimomi is slated to hold a meeting with Mishra on Wednesday to “fine-tune” the political process for an amicable solution.

Meanwhile, speaking about the meeting with the Core Committee on Naga Political issue at Chumukedema police complex last week, Co-Convener of NNPG Isak Sumi said that the NNPGs have once again conveyed their opposition to polls before a solution is reached.

Sumi informed that the Core Committee responded positively to the request and assured to direct parties not to campaign.
