Tora’s Husband, another Assamese feature by National Award-winning filmmaker from Assam, Rima Das is all set to have its World Premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.

The 47th Toronto International Film Festival is currently underway in Toronto, Canada.

It may be mentioned that it is the first Indian film to be featured in the Platform section.
The film ‘Tora’s Husband,’ starring Abhijit Das and Tarali Kalita Das, is about a loving father and a friendly neighbour who fights to keep his small-town business viable while his relationships deteriorate, amidst loss and Covid-induced lockdowns.

The film, shot during the lockdown, depicts life in a small town during the pandemic.

In the film, Rima Das paid tribute to her father, Bharat Chandra Das, whom she lost during the Covid pandemic.

The two-time National Award winner is known for making indigenous and realistic stories about challenging relationships, finding purpose, coming of age, and life in nature.

Earlier, Das’ last independent features “Village Rockstars” and “Bulbul Can Sing” were also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Both films were screened at over 120 prestigious film festivals worldwide, winning over 70 awards.

Village Rockstars was also India’s official entry for the Academy Awards ‘Oscars’ 2019.

The 47th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival started on September 8 and will be concluded on September 18, 2022.
