The search for missing Arunachal mountaineer duo Tapi Mra and his assistant Niku Dao continues in the state’s East Kameng district.

On Sunday the search and rescue operations were called off after reaching the confluence Point of Kameng River and Wapria Bung River due to excessive rain and slippery conditions.

The search and rescue operations jointly carried out by the East Kameng district administration and the army will resume early morning today.

Reportedly the operations beyond the confluence point is said to be the most challenging job for the team.

It needs to be mentioned here that the Mountaineers went missing after setting out on an official expedition in Arunachal’s East Kameng district.

The search and rescue operation has been severely affected due to continuous heavy rains and bad weather thereby making the task ahead more challenging and difficult for the ground search parties.

It needs to be mentioned here that, four army choppers which consist of 2 ALHs and 2 Cheetahs, are still kept on standby to carry out the aerial recce once the weather clears up.

Till the weather clears up for the choppers to carry out aerial search and rescue operations, the ground teams will continue to move ahead.

Meanwhile, the MET department had predicted heavy rains in the East Kameng district till September 5.
