14 days judicial custody to Mizo teacher for alleged molestation

A teacher of a government-run primary school at Thangpui village in south Mizoram’s Lunglei district, who was arrested on Saturday by Police for allegedly stripping a class 1 girl student in the school was remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody by a district court and admitted to the Lunglei district jail at Sazaikawn near Lunglei town yesterday.
As per reports, the accused was booked under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 at Lunglei Police Station for allegedly stripping a 6-year-old student. The accused has been arrested following an FIR filed by the district child welfare committee.
State school education officials said that disciplinary action would be taken in accordance with the inquiry report submitted by the sub-divisional education officer of the district.
