Mizoram celebrates 76th Independence Day with patriotic fervor

The Chief Minister highlighted the successful implementation and progress of works under various flagship programs. 

Along with the rest of the country, Mizoram today joined the celebration of 76th Independence Day. The day is being celebrated across the state with patriotic fervour.

As the people of the state have been overwhelmed by Har Ghar Tiranga since August 13, patriotic fervor has filled every nook and corner of the state today.

The celebration in the Northeastern state began with the unfurling of the National Flag at all government and semi-government offices and institutions. Similar programs mixed with cultural skits and drills were held in all district headquarters.

The main program in the state was held at Assam Rifles ground in Aizawl. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of drums as the police & armed contingents performed March Past.

The beautiful drills of students from 14 schools, NCC & Scouts & Guides were also spectacular. In the program, Chief Minister Zoramthanga unfurled the national flag and he took salutes from 28 armed contingents.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Zoramthanga expressed heartfelt greetings to the people of the state.

In his address, Zoramthanga said that to commemorate this monumental occasion, all Government departments are hosting a series of activities under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. He believed that this Year of the Amrit Festival of Independence will infuse new energy and new consciousness among the countrymen.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the successful implementation and progress of works under various flagship programs. 

He said under Jal Jeevan Mission, over 85 thousand households out of the total of 1,34 lakh rural households, and 177 villages are covered with House Tap Water Connection. He said Under Swachh Bharat Mission, Plastic Waste Management Units have been installed at Aibawk, Seling, Thenzawl, Mamit, Kolasib, Lunglei, and Champhai.
