The banned United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) has once again returned to its customary Independence Day bandh call.
In a release issued, the ULFA-Independent has called for a bandh from midnight of August 14 to 6 pm on August 15.
Last year, the outfit had for the first time in 40 years, decided not to give a boycott call on Independence Day.
So what led to this boycott call once again, what does it mean to the proposed peace process? These are the questions that rise at a time when there were high hopes of the ULFA-Independent joining the peace table soon.
In its statement issued the ULFA Independent called for a boycott of Independence day in Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Tripura as well.
